RUFUS WRIGHT PROVES HE IS THE ONE

The opening of a new play is always an exciting affair, as Soho Theatre’s new offering of The One proved to be last week. Written by one of the capital’s most exciting new playwrights, Vicky Jones, and directed by Soho Theatre’s own Artistic Director, Steve Marmion, The One follows a couple’s destructive, and often violent, flirtations with love and lust. The brilliant Rufus Wright shines as achingly manipulative boyfriend, Harry, alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with what the Evening Standard describes as “scorching performances” in this “painfully funny” new stage production.

“Sharply drawn… achingly funny… witty, brave and galling writing.” Daisy Bowie-SellTime Out, ****

“The dialogue fizzes… and thanks to the lead actors’ scorching performances it feels interestingly provocative.” Henry Hitchings, Evening Standard, ****

The One plays at the Soho Theatre until Sunday 30 March 2014.
